Job Summary





The primary responsibility of the Manager, Open Water, is to support the Open Water National Team (NT) and National Junior Team (NJT) athletes and coaches by providing a high level of services and programming. This position is also tasked with supporting the grassroots development of open water swimming within the United States by working with coaches, officials, and race directors to ensure that open water events, training, and clinics are held in a safe and productive manner.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities




Plan and coordinate all aspects of the Open Water NT and NJT Programs. Support Open Water NT and NJT coaches and athletes by providing information and services that will help them make decisions that are critical to optimal performance. Advocate for athlete safety by working with the local organizing committees, safety directors, and World Aquatics to ensure that adequate safety plans are in place and properly executed. Serve as the Team Leader at selected open water competitions. Plan all logistical needs for all Open Water NT and NJT competitions and camps. Act as the Staff Liaison for the USA Swimming Open Water Committee. Oversee the Open Water Event Sanction Process. Develop and coordinate best practices for event management. Develop a calendar of open water swimming events that helps promote and encourage participation in open water swimming. Develop educational content as it applies to open water. Track open water event growth and participation in the United States. Assist local race directors in the sanction, management, and safety of open water races. Make any necessary changes to the USA Swimming Rulebook by working with coaches, officials, race directors, and volunteers.


Other Duties:




Travel to domestic and international competitions as needed. Assist the NT Division in other areas of logistical or technical support. Order, inventory, and assist with the distribution of all National Team and National Junior Team equipment, protocol, and uniforming for all camps, competitions, and travel. Other duties, assigned.

Education & Experience:




A bachelor's degree in sports management, international relations, related field, or equivalent. Minimum five years' experience in open water or pool swimming environments. Experience planning and executing events preferred. Experience working in administration or management within the sports industry. Experience with or understanding of National Governing Bodies structures, roles, objectives, and culture in relation to the Olympic movement and athlete relations. Experience or knowledge of competitive swimming rules, guidelines, and best practices required.



Physical Requirements:




Must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 40% of the year. Ability to maintain proper documentation that allows for international travel is required. Must be able to lift at least eighty pounds. Experience with the use of kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and other personal flotation devices. This position works in an office setting in the USA Swimming office in Colorado Springs, Colorado; must be willing to relocate to Colorado Springs or the surrounding area(s).



Salary & Benefits:




Salary range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000 annually. Bonus Eligibility: Based on company performance, this position may be eligible for an annual bonus target of 7.50%. Benefits available include: + Medical, dental, and vision
