Job Description


As a Software Technical Manager at Cox Automotive, you will oversee the software development process, manage teams of software engineers, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software products. Your primary duties and responsibilities will include:

Team Leadership : Lead, mentor, and manage 2-3 onshore and offshore teams of software engineers, providing guidance, support, and career development opportunities. Foster a positive and collaborative team culture.

Technical Strategy : Define and implement the technical strategy for the software development team, ensuring alignment with the company\'s goals and objectives.

Project Management : Partner with Scrum Masters and Product Owners to manage the entire software development lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Technical Expertise : Stay current with industry trends and best practices, providing technical leadership and guidance to the team. Ensure the team follows coding standards and best practices. Review code when needed and provide guidance and support to team members.

Quality Assurance : Oversee the quality assurance and testing processes to ensure software products are reliable and free of defects. Implement quality control measures.

Risk Management : Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the development process. Proactively address issues that may impact project timelines or quality.

Collaboration : Collaborate with other teams, such as Product, UX, and Delivery, to ensure the successful delivery of integrated software solutions.

Performance Managemen t: Establish and monitor key performance indicators and metrics to measure team and individual performance. Provide regular feedback and conduct performance reviews.

Resource Management : Manage resource allocation, budgeting, and capacity planning for the software development team.

Documentation: Ensure proper documentation of code and technical processes for future reference and maintenance.

Qualifications :

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 6+ years of experience with at least 1 year experience in a management or lead role.
  • Proven experience as a Software Technical Manager or similar role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of software development methodologies, best practices, and technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and testing processes.
  • Familiarity with agile and/or DevOps practices is a plus.
Extensive experience in the following:
  • Objective-oriented analysis, design and programming
  • High-volume, high availability, high perfoming web applications
  • Cloud-native applications and their lifecycle management in the cloud
  • Microservices architecture & various monitoring and operational components
  • Automated testing technologies and build automation
  • User interface design patterns, visual design elements, web technologies, and development methodologies
  • UI based development/presentation/test frameworks (React, Node, Bootstrap, Redux)
  • Source control management, including advanced branching and merging patterns (GHE)
Knowledge of the following tools:
  • MySQL, Postgres, SNS / SQS, ECS, Elastic / Open Search, Redis, Twilio Sendgrid, BFF
  • Github Enterprise, Nuget, .net 7 microservices, Hangfire, Single-SPA, and others.
