Responsible for washing, sanding, priming, surface prep, painting, detailing and minor re-assembly of metal or hard composition objects to support production schedules and customer commitments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Reads and interprets specifications and lays out area for painting; examines finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
2. Operates, clean and trouble-shoots all painting tools and equipment.
3. Prepare surfaces for paint application using abrasives, solvents, brushes, or other methods as advised.
4. Weigh or measure chemicals, coating, or paints before adding them to machines.
5. Regulate pressure and composition of mixtures flowing through nozzle.
6. Mask specified areas of object to protect from coating.
7. Fill small dents or scratches with body fillers and smooth surfaces to prepare for painting.
8. Select pre-mixed paint or mix required portions of pigment, oil, thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
9. Apply paint to surface using a spray gun, brush, or roller.
10. Spray prepared surfaces with specified amounts of primers and decorative or finish coatings.
11. Sand and apply sealer to properly dried finish.
12. In accordance with company procedures, prepares units for next operation.
13. Clean and perform maintenance and repairs on company owned tools and equipment.
14. May perform tasks above ground level.
15. Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly working environment.
16. Complies with all safety, personal protective equipment, and material handling requirements.
17. Dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with company waste management procedures.
18. Operation and safe use of forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
19. Performs other job duties as assigned.

Responsible for performing duties in a safe manner and promoting safety to others in accordance with Newterra's safety policies and procedures. This includes reporting all safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, near-misses, and incidents to their manager immediately.
Provide assistance to other departments, as needed.
Complies with Quality Management Systems in accordance Newterra's internal quality standards.
Accurately complete documents related to product quality, production efficiency or other reporting as required.
Responsible for completing all assigned training applicable to your position in the applicable timeframe.
Complete all responsibilities while ensuring adherence to Newterra's Delegation of Authority.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or general education degree (GED) plus 1-3 years equivalent experience.
Knowledge of painting and blasting materials, methods, and tools.
Working knowledge of fluid power and mechanical disciplines preferred.
Detail oriented to ensure the highest level of product quality.
Forklift experience preferred.
Dependable.

Strong eye for detail; ability to recognize colors in a normal spectrum.

Safety training and certificates may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, chemicals, heavy equipment, and machinery. Accurate hand/eye coordination is required. Finger dexterity is required, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull. Work involves considerable standing, stooping, or bending for long periods of time. Must be able to work in confined spaces, climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolds of varying height. May lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a manufacturing environment and will be exposed to manufacturing elements such as loud noise, hazardous equipment, heat, dust, fumes, and other materials. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures while wearing restrictive protective suits and other personal protection equipment. Company safety standards must be always followed.
