Job Description


The Marketing and Communications Specialist plans, coordinates and supports marketing and communications activities for the Tulane University Innovation Institute (TUII). Works with TUII leadership and staff to support the Institute\'s unified branding and marketing strategy. Coordinates closely with University Communications and Marketing on key efforts, including media relations. Additionally, creates and edits storytelling content for PR, marketing, and social media initiatives. Executes a range of projects, including: 1) design and development of collateral such as brochures and annual reports, 2) visual identity management, 3) website management, 4) social media, 5) dashboards, and 6) email and e-newsletter production. Assists in analyzing the performance of the TUII\'s marketing and communications, identifying new opportunities, and implementing plans for improvement.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of business marketing processes, digital marketing and supporting strategies.
  • Outstanding written communication and editorial skills.
  • Proficiency in web content management systems including WordPress, Drupal and Enterprise.
  • Proficiency in graphics tools such as Adobe CC (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)
  • Proficient in social media best practices for organizations.
  • Proficient computer skills with knowledge of applications applicable to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Strong presentation and meeting facilitation skills.
Required Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor\'s Degree and 3 years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, public relations or other closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in marketing and/or communications in higher education
  • 3+ years digital marketing experience (e.g. SEM/SEO/Email/Social Media)
  • Master\'s Degree
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in web content and management.
