The National Carbon Capture Center is the primary carbon capture research facility for the U.S. Department of Energy. Managed by Southern Company, this neutral test center is focused on finding breakthroughs in next-generation carbon capture technologies!As a neutral research facility, the National Carbon Capture Center is working to accelerate the commercialization of advanced technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Since its creation by the U.S. Department of Energy in 2009, the center has been a cornerstone of U.S. innovation in the research & development of cost-effective, technically viable carbon management technologies.Managed and operated by Southern Company, the National Carbon Capture Center has worked with over 30 government, university, and research organizations from 7 countries. As a unique test bed for third-party developers, it bridges the gap between laboratory research and large-scale demonstrations. Their state-of-the-art facilities provide realistic industrial operating conditions and the infrastructure to evaluate promising technologies for scale-up and future commercial deployment.The scope includes post-combustion carbon capture for point sources such as natural gas power generation, carbon utilization and conversion, and negative-emission technologies such as direct air capture.Position: Mechanical Designer - PipingExperience Level: Seeking all levels of experienceDesired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Mechanical Design principles.
  • Knowledge of process piping design (B31.3) highly desired.
  • Process piping is the most effective way to process fluids and gases in an industrial processing facility. It helps organizations safely convert raw chemicals, gases, and liquids into more valuable products. Process piping is commonly used in the chemical processing and petroleum refinery industries.
  • Experience with the Autodesk suite of applications, including Plant 3D, Vault, AutoCAD, and Advance Steel, is highly advantageous.
  • A background in Mechanical Engineering, Technology, or Mechanical Design, supported by a 2-year or 4-year degree, is preferred.
