Mechanical Designer Position Summary :
The Mechanical Designer will work coordinate the modeling, design, drafting, and Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and management for new and existing products and components. These components include both mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies.
The Mechanical Designer must be able to develop concepts and recommend design alternatives: Having the ability to prioritize work from multiple sources is a must. These sources include engineering, manufacturing, sales, and application engineering.
The Mechanical Designer must have familiarity with GD&T, have interest to further advance this skill and knowledge and be willing to take on the responsibility of developing and analyzing tolerance stacks.
Competency in NX and familiarity with Team Center is desired.
Experience in engineering database management ensuring drawings/models comply with internal and industry standards is desirable.
Responsibilities
Mechanical Designer Responsibilities : * Works with a Design or Application Engineer to develop new product lines.
1.1 Using input from Engineering, regarding important design features, develop conceptual designs into computer models and drawings, using the CAD system, which can be produced and tested as prototypes for new products.
1.2 Possess knowledge of current industry standards, including SAE, ANSI, DIN, ISO, QS, TS, and Horton. Has basic understanding of manufacturing techniques, including machining, sheet metal work, casting, die-casting and forging processes.
1.3 Works with design-team members to refine concepts for products, using input from the various sources, both internal and external to Horton, to identify and optimize potential design solutions.
