This benefit-eligible role is 36 hours and 5 days per week. The Medical Assistant\'s primary function is to enable physicians to make efficient use of their clinic time by maintaining smooth patient flow. This is accomplished by having the patients in the exam rooms and ready to see the doctor at the time of their appointment, and keeping the exam rooms stocked with medical supplies the physician may need during the examination. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Room patients and record all information needed by providers (vital signs, medication review, etc) for exam at the scheduled appointment time. Notify provider of patient s arrival via pager and flag signals. 2. Medical Assistant is responsible for requesting assistance from office personnel designated to provide back up coverage in order to get all patients roomed in a timely manner. 3. Draw blood/collect urine specimen for laboratory tests, send specimens and all appropriate laboratory paperwork or process through ECW. 4. The next day s appointments are reviewed assuring that needed medications, supplies and/or equipment are available. 5. Stock exam rooms with gowns, linens and routinely used supplies. Exam areas are to be kept clean and organized. All EMG machines, pump refill machines and other medical equipment are to be cleaned and dusted on a weekly basis. 6. Order all routine medical supplies. 7. Monitor drug sample cabinet and stock injectables, syringes, and needles. 8. Maintain copies of exercises/handouts, recopying when necessary. 9. Plan ahead for exam rooms needed, assuring needed room is available for EMG or other procedure. 10. Clean exam areas at the end of the day. Exam tables are to be sanitized daily. 11. Submit charges in ECW to billing personnel for venipuncture or injection. 12. Assist with answering telephones, patient check in, and front desk open/close out as needed. 13. Anticipate and solve problems from all above areas of responsibility, with the primary consideration being the efficiency of the providers and the office as a whole. 14. Other duties as requested. EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent, completion of Medical Assistant training course preferred. Currently certified as a Registered or Certified Medical Assistant. EXPERIENCE: Medical office experience of one year or more preferred. SKILLS: 1. Obtaining patient s vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, weight, height). 2. Phlebotomy. 3. Administer injections 4. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients and their families, organizations and the general public. 5. Attention to detail. 6. Basic computer skills. ABILITIES: 1.Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction. 2. Ability to communicate clearly. 3. Ability to prioritize and handle many tasks/projects simultaneously 4. Ability to be proactive - anticipate problems before they occur. 5. Ability to problem solve. ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a busy office environment and requires desk work. Frequent contact with employees, patients and outside agencies. Public contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing/walking required for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity for using a computer keyboard. Bending, lifting and stooping required. May be required to assist patients in transferring to/from exam table from/to wheelchair. Job Type: Full-time Benefits:
