JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant functions as an important member of the healthcare team by providing basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning for patients\xe2\x80\x99 care, comfort, and safety. The Medical Assistant performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic\xe2\x80\x99s mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or Documented successful completion of the following courses (of their recognized course equivalent):

Medical Terminology

Anatomy & Physiology or Body Structure & Function or Human Body in Health & Disease

Pharmacology

Preferred/Optional: Licensed Practical Nurse license awarded by the State of Wisconsin

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: Two years of experience as a Medical Assistant AND completion of the three core classes within Twelve months of hire.

Preferred/Optional: Experience in healthcare experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
