Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world\'s largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Temporary Medical Assistant. Due to anticipated needs, we are currently recruiting for a career oriented individual to fill this role.

Rotation Schedule will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site

Reporting to the Physician Assistant

Responsibilities:

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Promote and ensure a safe work environment and safety conscious work force by supporting and following safety initiatives, procedures, and activities
• The Medical Assistant verifies patient information and verifies purpose of visit
• Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking vitals including, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, oxygen saturation percentage, weight, and temperature; reports patient history summary
• Counsel patients by transmitting physician\'s orders, questions and direction
• Maintain safe, secure and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations including HIPAA
• Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt and re-stocking
• Keep accurate records of all surveillance data, clinical visits, services, accidents, or illnesses
• Report for work in a timely manner with appropriate clothing; flexible with ever-changing work assignments on a daily basis
• Perform blood draws, IV starts, and ability to learn and perform testing to keep patients within MSHA monitoring guidelines. Assist with administering immunizations and other medications at direction of Physician Assistant
• Perform other duties as assigned. Assist the Physician Assistant as needed

Qualifications:

• Certified medical assistant, EMT or CHAP training
• 1+ years in a medical office or other form of patient contact
• Excellent oral and written communication, editing, organization and interpersonal skills are a must
• Able to work independently and as member of a proactive, consciously customer service-oriented team
• Must be able to operate in a strict climate of confidentiality and discretion, following HIPAA protocols
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required
