Position Purpose:
The Colleague Wellness (CW) Medical Assistant/Medical Technician will provide clinical occupational health and wellness services dictated by established *** guidelines and assist with clerical or other services as needed based on clinic needs.
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to CW Site Leader
Works closely with the site other CW clinical staff
Works directly with site colleagues
Interfaces with various departments as needed
Experience/Education:
Suggest a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant
Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Completed and passed a certified Medical Assistant/Medical Technician program.
Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel preferred
CPR and First aid certification required
Phlebotomy certified
Vaccine administration
Knowledge of how to care of medical emergencies of Chemical or biological hazard exposures
Demonstrated ability to conduct day-to-day operations with minimal supervision, strong clinical judgment and able to act under pre-established procedures and guidelines
Prefer previous Occupational Health Experience
Prefer previous drug testing collection experience
Prefer previous Electrocardiogram training
Adept knowledge of medical terminology
Prefer knowledge of OSHA regulations
Prefer familiarity with Workers Compensation provisions and FMLA
Major Responsibilities:
Identifies candidates for research support program, sets up clinical protocols, collects tissue, blood or other samples per clinical study protocol to provide scientists with accurate fresh specimens while maintaining the scope of the project and patient confidentiality- also enters participant information into payment system and tracks volunteer frequency of the program
Performs phlebotomy, nasal swabs and cheek swabs as needed
Documents patient data in paper and electronic databases as applicable per standard protocols
Conducts medical surveillance, vision testing, throat cultures, EKGs,
Reviews results of medical testing to assure quality outcomes of the testing and repeats test as needed
Performs routine drug screens
Assesses injuries, performs first aid, cleanses and dresses wounds
Flushes eyes and ears
Maintains confidentiality with all patient care, familiar with HIPAA regulations
Maintains medical equipment including daily calibrations
Attends and participates in team staff meetings
Schedules and monitors patient appointments
Performs record management for clinic records
Provides administrative support to the clinic

Schedule: M, T, W or Th. The hours would be between 8:30 and 3 pm with variability as needed to total the 20 hours/week.
