We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential medical administrative support and patient care in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high-quality service to our patients. This role is vital in facilitating smooth operations within our clinic.
Duties and responsibilities
Phone triage: Answering 80-120 calls/day.
Multitasking and organization with high degree of emphasis on department teamwork.
Schedule appointments/procedures while also completing precert forms for scheduled procedures.
Demonstrate computer skills in EHR including scheduling, acquiring medical files, and emailing.
Excellent communication skills with comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology with an extended degree of attention to detail.
Ensure pertinent information is accurately documented in chart for the physician.
Practice HIPPA compliance and always observe OSHA safety standards
Document each call in EMR, verifying DOB, address, phone # and insurance.
Refill PPI's and other GI medications according to the BGA refill policy.
Answer prep questions and other questions related to patient care for pending procedures, radiology, and appointments.
Schedule OV for refills or new problems if patient has not been seen in a year.
Give lab, radiology, and pathology results if message from a provider is documented in chart.
Fulfill record request.
Send detailed messages to provider when patient has been seen within a year detailing current complaints, current medication regimen, and any other pertinent details.
Give ER precautions for emergent calls and documentation according to BGA phone call escalation policy.
Assist in various tasks such as ERX, EPHI, and referral Queue.
Handle any designated tasks outlined in open patient messages when catching return calls from patients.
Requirements
Previous experience in medical administrative support or as a Medical Assistant preferred.
Strong knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on patient service.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems is advantageous.
Current Alabama licensure (RN or LPN) or certification (CCMA)
Knowledge of Medical Insurance helpful.
To be able to type a minimum of 35-40 wpm
Employee must be pleasant and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with assisting patients and multiple physicians' offices simultaneously.
Ability to handle a multi-line phone system
