Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accuracy in medical coding, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. This role is crucial in facilitating the financial operations of our medical facility while providing excellent service to our patients.

Duties

Review and process patient accounts for billing, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information. Utilize medical coding systems, including ICD-10, to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures. Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on outstanding claims. Conduct medical collections by contacting patients regarding unpaid balances and negotiating payment plans as necessary. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure timely payments. Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

Proven experience in medical billing or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10), and DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) is essential. Familiarity with medical office systems and electronic health record (EHR) software. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare professionals. Certification in medical billing or coding is a plus but not required. High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration or related fields is desirable.
