Graduate of an accredited medical school and residency program.
Valid license to practice medicine in the state of New Hampshire
Successful completion of credentialing process for medical staff membership and privileges at APDMH
Active APD Medical Staff membership in good standing
Working knowledge of quality improvement methodologies
Maintenance of active narcotics and controlled substances numbers and licenses
Board certification in the physician\'s area of specialty
At least 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Surgery with administrative leadership training and interest

PART TWO: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Position Objective
The Medical Director, Perioperative Services will report directly to the CMO and is an integral member of the management team for the OR and procedural spaces, together with the AVP for Perioperative Services. The Director works with surgical, nursing and anesthesia colleagues to ensure optimal utilization of the OR and outcomes that meet the organizations highest standards. They will work closely with the surgical, procedural and anesthesia specialties to optimize patient experience, provider and colleague engagement, utilization/efficiency, as well as quality and safety. A minimum of 0.1 FTE managing day to day operations within the operating room environment is expected, with the balance of the time dedicated to delivering clinical services in the OR environment.
Performance Expectation
Support the integrity of the OR scheduling process.
Support on time starts of cases with minimal exceptions.
Collaborate with AVP to monitor and optimize daily flow in Operating Rooms, Same Day and PACU.Identify barriers to the daily workflow and implement appropriate corrective measures.
Proactively identify, report, and work to mitigate safety concerns (in collaboration with the AVP for Perioperative Services).
Participate in apparent and root cause analysis and system review meetings following adverse events, including participation in the creation and implementation of improvement plans.
Promote and ensure Provider colleague adherence to quality and safety practices/initiatives in the OR.
Engage in strong collaboration and communication with nursing, anesthesia and surgery to address operational concerns and resolve conflicts in daily activities within the operating rooms. Work with all stakeholders in the OR to establish and ensure harmonious function.
Work with nursing, surgery and anesthesia to advocate for equipment, staffing, etc. with Senior Administration.
Co-Chair the Surgical Section
Support delays and on-hold cases in real time and provide service recovery as needed.
Monitor OR performance criteria including but not limited to turn-over time, operative times, non-operative times.
Work with Associate VP of Perioperative Services and the surgical groups to optimize block utilization times.
In collaboration with the Associate VP of Perioperative Services ensure that the operating and capital budgets will support the strategic and operational priorities for the OR.
Work with Nursing Leadership and Associate VP of Perioperative Services to ensure OR cleanliness and CMS regulatory review readiness.
Promote a culture of professional behavior in the OR areas by all colleagues.Address any deviation in this area with physician leadership, CMO/MSO as appropriate.
