Interventional Spine and Pain Institute isseeking a part time (working up to full time) dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team in a clinical laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting patient care by performing toxicology laboratory tests and analyses, ensuring accurate results that aid in diagnosis and treatment. This position requires proficiency in various laboratory techniques and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This role will have the opportunity to oversee and perform specimen processing, test performance, confirmation and release of all qualitative and quantitative test results. The ideal fit for this role is someone with at least 2 years of high complexity LCMS testing and a real interest in working independently and without excessive management or oversight. Other responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests, including immunoassays, and sample preparations and testing on both instruments (analyzer and LCMS)
Monitoring test analyses and specimen processing to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance
Proficiency in utilizing lab LIS for data management and record-keeping as well as an understanding of how the program and instruments interact with each other
Ensuring patient results are not reported or released until corrective action has been taken to ensure test performance
Follow established protocols for quality control and assurance to ensure accurate test results
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to discuss test results and provide insights as needed
Maintaining records on testing proficiency and results
Any administrative duties that accompany patient specimen testing
Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is calibrated and functioning properly
Troubleshoot instrumentation in the case of abnormal results or failed QA/QC
Adhere to safety standards and regulations within the clinical laboratory environment, including laboratory's QC policies and documenting all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibration, with instrument maintenance
Working in conjunction with staff consultant and lab director, as well as any other necessary authoritative parties, on compliance with all COLA/CLIA policies
Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent experience in Medical Laboratory Technology or related science field
Minimum of 2 years of experience in toxicology certification and the releasing of quantitative and quantitative results
Proficiency in laboratory techniques relevant to clinical settings and toxicology testing
Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) preferred
Experience working in a hospital or clinical laboratory environment is highly desirable
Strong attention to detail with excellent data management skills
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Effective communication skills for interacting with colleagues and healthcare professionals
Pain Management experience preferred, but not required
Experience with Indiko and Agilent 6400 Series Triple Quad LCMS preferred
