Job Summary

The Medical Office Manager is responsible for the success of the Dena\'ina Wellness Center\'s non-clinical staff. The Manager provides direct oversight and supervision of the Registration Technicians, Central Schedulers, Un\'ina Navigators, and Travel/Referral Technicians, including daily operations which includes hiring, training, productivity, quality, scheduling, staffing, etc. to ensure the needs of the Dena\'ina Wellness Center and un\'ina are met. The Manager ensures that the scheduling and registration processes are completed in a manner that facilitates a smooth revenue cycle.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring, training, and daily supervision of scheduling, travel, referral, registration, office flow to ensure patient flow, scheduling, patient registration, check in/out, accurate verification of insurance, referrals, scheduling, travel and referrals
  • Interview, hire, provide orientations, mentor staff, complete schedules, timesheets, and approve leave for non-clinical staff, and facilitate team meetings and delegate tasks accordingly
  • Responsible for the oversight of essential functions of the front desk with regard to un\'ina flow, check in/out, accurate verification of insurance and data entry
  • Responsible for the oversight of essential functions of central scheduling including scheduling in all electronic medical record systems, transferring calls, messages, accuracy, and professionalism
  • Ensure staff are fully trained and demonstrate strong customer service and professionalism
  • Ensure that Un\'ina Navigators and Travel/Referral Technicians stay up to date with Medicaid/Medicare and VA policies
  • Ensure coverage at all supervised positions during Dena\'ina Wellness Center open hours
  • Coordinate with the Finance department regarding Revenue Cycle process
  • Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance

Qualifications

Education

\xc2\xb7 Bachelor\'s Degree in Healthcare Administration or Business, or combination of education and experience in healthcare settings may be substituted for a degree

Experience
  • Five (5) years\' supervisory experience in a business office and experience in a healthcare setting
  • Experience and understanding of the Revenue Cycle function within an organization
  • Experience in insurance verification and charge collections
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, Electronic Health Records with specific focus on Patient Scheduling and Registration
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR, Part 2
Preferred

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities
  • Experience working in Cerner preferred
  • Knowledge and experience working within the Alaska Native health system preferred
License/Certification
  • Valid Alaska driver\'s license and must remain insurable under Tribal policy
