This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. If business needs change, an individual employee\'s designation may be adjusted with a required minimum of ten (10) business days\' notice unless employee conduct or safety issues necessitate otherwise at the discretion of management.

The Behavioral Health Springboard (BHS) at the School of Social Work, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill links current research to initiatives in mental health and substance use disorder treatment systems. BHS offers curricula development, technical assistance, program consultation, and face-to-face and online educational programs. Collaboration between the university and the community (local, regional/state, global) is mutually beneficial for the exchange of knowledge and resources in a context of partnership and reciprocity. These exchanges enrich scholarship and research; enhance curriculum, teaching and learning; prepare educated, engaged citizens; strengthen values and civic responsibility; address critical societal issues; and contribute to the public good. Our training resources, products, and experienced staff help organizations design effective service delivery systems and assist with the transitions needed to implement evidenced based practices for improved client outcomes and systems efficiencies.

The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Program Manager will report to the BHS Director and will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Adult, Youth and Teen MHFA training programs at UNC Chapel Hill and other community-based organizations. This position will manage the organization and dissemination of training resources for the campus community, scheduling, support the recruitment of campus-based and external MHFA Instructors to meet campus and community demands, implement program evaluation activities, and lead current efforts to achieve program sustainability. This position will supervise full-time staff, work study students, graduate research assistants and/or practicum students . The MHFA Program Manager will monitor the MHFA budget which includes multiple funding sources (eg, state budget, contracted funding, and private donations) totaling $5 million and provide guidance regarding the program\'s budgetary forecast (eg. Hiring, marketing, outreach). The MHFA Program Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for both the campus-based and community-facing aspects of the MHFA program. This position is also responsible for creating, developing, and leading public-facing MHFA marketing presentations to key stakeholder audiences in order to further disseminate MHFA throughout the campus community, the UNC system and broader state and national audiences. This position will collect, track, and monitor program evaluation data and MHFA implementation policy information that will be used to support the development of sponsored research grants for MHFA. This position is responsible for seeking external funding opportunities to promote program sustainability and this position will monitor the development and collection of impact and performance evaluation data to support national mental health presentations and sponsored research grants.

This position requires up to 25% travel for in-person training events and national conference presentations.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity or comparable background in independent academic or instructional activities, will accept a relevant Bachelor\'s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. This experience may be related to the direction/oversight of programs that focus the academic and research resources of a higher education institution towards community or regional issues.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in campus-based, behavioral health program
  • Certified as an instructor for either Adult Mental Health First Aid or Youth Mental Health First Aid through the National Council on Well-being
  • Experience in providing MHFA trainings
  • Experience as a licensed mental health provider
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
  • A master\'s degree in social work, counseling, human services, public health, or related field
  • At least 1 year experience in marketing MHFA training programs in college or university settings
  • Experience using data to evaluate program effectiveness and develop continuous improvement plans
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively without immediate, direct supervision
  • Ability to manage conflict and communicate effectively with diverse workforce populations and settings
  • Grant writing experience; writing proposals for external and/or sponsored research funding opportunities
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
  • This position requires up to 25% travel for in-person training events and national conference presentations.
  • This position requires the ability to move up to 30 lbs.
