Job Summary:
The Prototype Engineer works within the Electronics Product Development Department. This Engineer will work with multiple organizations and roles to manage the logistics for developmental engineering electrical and mechanical hardware builds. Duties include the interpretation of engineering drawings and associated documentation and quality requirements to generate manufacturing work methodologies and/or instructions and illustrations and capture the associated build bill of material (BOM) documentation for as-built configuration. Engineer will be responsible for ensuring quality, cost, and schedule requirements are met for engineering hardware and identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
Individual will be the focal point for specifics programs to meet program schedules and quality objectives. Work with peers and multiple functions to plan and manage kitting request through engineering stores. Maintain up-to-date knowledge on engineering objectives, engineering strategies and support activities. Work with cross-functional teams to complete kitting request on-time and within program requirements. Communicate updates to Managers and customers on regular basis.
This position is an onsite role in Tucson, AZ.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Perform BOM (Bill of Materials) analysis
Component purchase
Generate material status reports
Request components from engineering stores
Identify and disposition quality discrepancies and non-conformances through engineering stores
Utilize various tools including SAP, Common PDM, MatTrak, and RAYTrak
Develop inventory control to avoid schedule delays
Assist in processing program requests and shipments according to the established schedule
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) or related degree
Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience to include at least 2 of the following:
o Read and Interpret engineering drawings and/or hierarchy definition to create work instructions
o Create and rewrite work instructions
o Suppler quoting and interface
Excel including such functions such as filters, V-Lookup and pivot tables
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for two additional years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master\'s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) or related discipline
Working knowledge of SAP/PRISM for material procurement and material movement
Familiarity with RMS Contractor Acquired Material (CAM) policies and requirements.
Navigate multiple complex processes and tools including but not limited to EDM & cPDM
Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) requirements
Multi-task, prioritize activities and maintain ongoing status with multiple stake holders
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Work with and take direction from Functional Management and IPT\'s from multiple programs
Take initiative in a product ownership environment
