Job Summary





** The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment. This position is located at our MnROAD facility in Monticello. The purpose of this position is to ensure that quality data and technical services are provided to the transportation research community involving the resources of the MNDOT, MNROAD test facility located in Monticello. The transportation research community includes MNDOT\xe2\x80\x99s Research Section, other MNDOT offices, and state agencies, NRRA partners including universities, FHWA, and industry groups. This position also serves as a Data Acquisition technical resource person on specialized data acquisition hardware, software, and network communications. This individual must maintain a valid class D driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and a valid Minnesota Power Limited Technician License.

Qualifications




Minimum Qualifications

A two-year degree in Electronics Technology or a related field OR one year of experience working with electronics, test equipment, technologies used in fiber optic and copper-based digital and analog communications systems (e.g., video transceivers or serial to Ethernet converters), and/or video systems. Other qualifications include:
  • Valid Class D Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License
  • Minnesota Power Limited Technician License

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work outside exposed to the weather elements (both cold and hot) daily. The employee will frequently drive a motor vehicle in off road conditions. Periodically, the employee will walk on even and uneven/sloping ground. The employee may work in high volume traffic zones in day and nighttime conditions. The employee must frequently and continually rotate through various body positions (standing, twisting, bending, sitting, kneeling, and squatting). The employee will operate machinery and testing equipment (using vision and hearing) under varying temperatures. The employee must frequently move up to 50 pounds by pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying. Periodically, the employee will push and/or pull carts, dollies and two-wheel trucks. The employee must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment to protect the head, eyes, hearing, respiration, visibility, and feet from injury.
