"Make a living serving with Aloha"The , , Driver License Branch, Motor Vehicle Control Section is looking for a Motor Vehicle Control Inspector I. The positions are located at the Kapahulu Motor Vehicle Control Facility located at 1112 Kapahulu Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96816.As a Motor Vehicle Control Inspector I, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Performing inspectional and investigative tasks relative to the enforcement of laws, rules and regulations.
  • Investigates complaints pertaining to violations of the Periodic Motor Vehicle Inspection program.
  • Responsible for the licensing and conducting unannounced inspections of safety inspection stations and adjustors.
  • Investigations of abandoned and derelict vehicles.
  • Investigations of taxi complaints and regulate the taxi industry
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities of the position.

Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Two (2) years of experience in inspectional, investigative, instructional or repair work which shall have included ascertaining the overall mechanical, operating and safety condition of motor vehicles.LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid appropriate driver\'s license (automobile/Type 3), prior to appointment.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a special police commission prior to completion of probation. During the probationary period, selectees shall be fingerprinted, photographed, and subject to a background investigation by the Honolulu Police Department.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE EVALUATION:
