Working as part of the Correspondence team providing guidance and support for all types of Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) transactions to Alaskans. This position requires thorough knowledge in explaining driving privileges, processing vehicle registrations, temporary registrations, and other specialty permits. The Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative 1 (MVCSR1) will interact directly with the public often times explaining policies, statutes and regulations via mail, email, and the phone.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
The position is located at the Anchorage DMV location with the Correspondence team. You can expect to process mail transactions into digital format and communicate with customers through email. Training is a mix of OJT (On the Job Training) and Classroom. After training, the MVCSR1 will work on a state computer with direct access to the secure network. The hours are 9:00 - 5:00, Monday through Friday.

Accept correct payment in the form of cash, check, credit card and return change when needed accurately.
  • Multi-Tasking \xe2\x80\x93 Ability to multi-task by reviewing documents, entering data and information while communicating verbally with customers in a loud open-concept office setting.
To truly excel in this position, the ideal candidate will have or develop the following competencies:
  • Work Independently \xe2\x80\x93 Demonstrate independence by finding efficiencies, making decisions and minor problem solving.

Minimum Qualifications
Six months of employment experience that included cash handling and working directly with clients or customers. Examples of qualifying experience include such work as sales cashier, bank teller, food service wait staff or cashier, and so on.
OR
Six months of office clerical employment experience providing information to clients, customers, or the general public on services, procedures, and requirements, which included entering or retrieving data using computer systems.

Substitution:
Postsecondary education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience. (Three semester hours or four quarter hours equal one month.)

Special Note:
A background check of criminal justice information will be conducted upon initial employment.
