Major duties and responsibilities include:
  • Utilizes and maintains all automobiles, trucks, and special purpose vehicles and equipment.
  • Assures that all program responsibilities are adequately met and that all areas assigned are clean, sanitary and aesthetically pleasing and that sidewalks, stairs, and parking lots are shoveled/plowed and sanded/salted.
  • Participates with his/her supervisor in the selection, promotion or reassignment of staff and recommends disciplinary actions and incentive awards, plans for improving work performances and training programs.
  • Ensures safe and efficient operation of all grounds and snow removal equipment
  • Instructs subordinates in the safe and efficient operation of such complex equipment as pay loaders, snowplows, tractors with backhoe, front-end loader and gang-mowers.
  • Oversees environmental sanitation, waste management, and basic pest functions.
  • Plans and coordinates flow of operations insuring grounds/transportation and environmental management program tasks are completed in assigned areas on a week-to-week basis.
Work Schedule: Full-Time; Monday-Friday; 7:00am-3:30pm

QualificationsPHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Physical effort is needed to maneuver long and heavy vehicles, especially when backing these vehicles. Frequent stooping and bending may be required when helping with passengers. The incumbent will be required to lift, push or pull moderate to heavy items on a daily basis. Vehicles and equipment are operated in all types of traffic and weather conditions on public roads, at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems; there is exposure to the danger of serious accidents. Outside work may involve extreme cold or hot working conditions as well as rain, snow and ice. Protective clothing as protection from the outside elements is required. Minor personal accidents, such as cuts or bruises while loading and unloading the vehicle are also possible.Applicants will be rated in accordance with the .
