Posting TextThe South Dakota Art Museum is offering an exciting temporary career opportunity as an Institutional Advancement Assistant. We are looking for a creative and innovative professional to join us as a member of the Museum team. Reporting to the Museum Director, the Institutional Advancement Assistant is a new position integral to consistently implementing the Museum\'s institutional advancement programs including the Museum Advisory Board, Emeritus Council, Membership program, and other activities that cultivate the philanthropic landscape of the Museum. Anticipated end date of August 21, 2025.Job Responsibilities: Work with South Dakota Art Museum programs related to institutional advancement. Assist program professionals by implementing programs and activities with developed processes; making decisions on behalf of program professionals within established work processes related to the program; and interpreting program-specific guidelines to answer questions and advise others on specific program issues or matters.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of:

  • Maintaining donor records in a donor management (CRM) database (Bloomerang preferred);
  • Grant writing and grant management;
  • Writing reports, appeals, acknowledgments, and other materials for institutional support; and
  • Research methods.
Skill & Ability to:
  • Interpret and comprehend program guidelines and procedures;
  • Communicate effectively;
  • Gather, interpret, report and use information concerning assigned activities;
  • Train and provide guidance to staff and service users;
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
  • Conduct research, and compile and analyze data; and
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the staff and the public.

Work HoursGenerally, the position will work 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday. However, some evening and weekend work is required due to Museum events. Some overnight travel to facilitate program events in other areas of the state or for professional development may be required.
