Information Technology\'s mission is to continually enhance our services to agency divisions, WSDA employees and ultimately the stakeholders of Washington while providing core IT services, network connectivity and software solutions in the most efficient and effective manner possible. We achieve our mission by identifying and resolving business challenges through the deployment of efficient software solutions, a secure and reliable network, and a Centralized Service Desk focusing on always delivering excellent customer service. The Network Administrator provides administration, management and maintenance of the agency\'s network infrastructure ensuring the agency\'s systems and access points are secured. This position will install, upgrade network hardware and software, manage access to network resources, manage network services to field offices, monitor the WAN and LAN infrastructure, and work with staff to identify and solve server technical points.

Position and Salary Information

WSDA is recruiting for a full-time non-permanent Network Administrator position within the Administrative Services Division. This position is approved for a flexible/hybrid schedule and will need to report to the WSDA Regional office located in Olympia, Washington. This position is non-represented.

The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate\'s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The typical starting salary range for this position is: $ 79,296.00 - $ 104,028.00 annually.

In addition to the salary listed above, incumbents assigned to our Seattle office location receive an additional 5% King County Location Pay stipend. If a position is designated as requiring dual language skills, incumbents will also receive a 5% Dual Language Requirement Pay stipend.

Employees who voluntarily provide proof of up-to-date COVID-19 booster vaccination, which must include any recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) at the time proof is provided to the employer, between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023, will receive a one-time lump sum payment of $1,000 to be paid no earlier than July 25, 2023.

Duties

Some of what you\'ll do:

Network infrastructure Technical Lead
  • Manages and monitors network architecture to over 20 agency sites including hub sites.
  • Coordinates new circuits and procures, configures, and installs router and switching equipment for new agency locations.
  • Installs, configures, and manages Wi-Fi network devices, along with managing employee and guest access.
  • Coordinates with 3rd party vendors such as WaTech, Internet Service Providers (lSP) and other agencies as needed to resolve technical issues.
  • Documents WSDA\'s network WAN and LANs for all sites throughout the state where network connections are implemented.
  • Administrator for the agency\'s Solar Winds server and network monitoring configurations for critical systems.
  • Creates, maintains, and manages security changes for agency employee accounts for access to Washington State\'s Mainframe system.
  • Manages employee and office locations\' access to Washington State\'s Virtual Private Network (VPN).
  • Shares information and contributes technical expertise while collaborating with peers, customer managers and lT professionals.
  • Coordinates additions or changes to the agency Domain Name System (DNS).
  • Manages all DHCP and static lP addresses for the agency.
Project Management
  • Designated as a technical resource and represents Network Operations for information Services projects and initiatives.
  • Solution research: Consults with lT solution requestors, research possible solutions, and manages projects to purchase and deploy selected network technology solutions for the department.
  • Deployment, training, and optimization of deployed solution.
Backup and Recovery
  • Disaster Recovery and Resiliency planning; Works and directs the NOC in documentation, planning and implementation of enterprise services disaster recovery and resiliency processes, and procedures designed to avoid or minimize service downtime during and after departmental, local area, or regional emergencies and disasters.
  • Backup of critical departmental data.
  • Recovery of data as needed.
Qualifications

Who should apply?
Professionals with:

A Bachelor\'s degree or higher in Network Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent technical discipline.

OR

An Associate\'s degree or higher in Network Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent technical discipline AND Two (2) years qualifying professional experience.

OR

Four (4) years\' experience supporting Microsoft Windows LAN system in multiple locations.

AND
  • Five (5) years of experience managing/maintaining Enterprise systems such as:
  • Consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing, and/or maintaining infrastructure equipment and software.
  • Providing customer support or technical support in information technology.
  • Must have skills and abilities necessary to install and configures Windows server hardware.
  • A demonstrated ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve complicated network and application issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, independently analyze, and weigh the risks versus benefits in decisions and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated skill in delivering group presentations and the ability to present complex information in a way that is easily understandable to the audience.
  • Knowledge and skills to support and provide assistance to field staff that is geographically dispersed and working remotely.
  • Must be able to function as part of a team, build rapport, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrated history of successful organization and time management skills.
In addition to the above qualifications, the following desired knowledge, skills, and abilities will make your application more competitive:
