This on-call position is a member of an outstanding nursing and direct care staff at the Ketchikan Pioneer Home and plays a vital role in providing person-centered care and support in a safe environment for up to forty-five (45) elders.

What you will be doing: Provide high quality care to assisted living home residents in a warm, supportive, and caring manner. This position provides clinical and medication administration to residents and clinical support to the care teams. Focus will be on quality resident care, the growth, development, and empowerment of health care teams, and the promotion of assisted living philosophy and statutes.

The working environment you can expect: This job is located in the Ketchikan Pioneers\' Home, an assisted living home at 141 Bryant Street Ketchikan, AK 99901. Who we are looking for: Position-specific knowledge, skills and abilities that are desired or contribute to the success in this position: * Considerable knowledge and skill of the principles and practices of nursing, behavior, and needs of patients.

• Ability to observe and evaluate reactions and changes in the physical behavioral and mental condition of patients and to think and act quickly in emergencies.
• Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients.
• Ability to administer treatments and medications and observe for and report adverse reactions.
• Ability to maintain records and to prepare clear, concise reports.

Other Job information: * This position is in support of the Pioneer Home, which is a 24-hour facility.

• This Pioneer Home is an Eden Alternative facility, where the environment includes contact with plants, flowers, and pets including cats, dogs, fish, and birds.
• Employees of the Pioneer Home receive continual screening for tuberculosis, criminal history and COVID-19 as required by the facility.

Minimum Qualifications

Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.

Special Note:
Candidates not currently licensed by the State of Alaska, who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska and requisite qualifying experience, may apply for vacancies in this job class. Applicants qualifying under this option may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of licensure will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.

Some positions may require the successful applicant to pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, as a prerequisite to employment. These requirements will be indicated at the time of recruitment.

Some positions may require the successful applicant to provide proof they are free from active pulmonary tuberculosis at the time of hire. Employees are required to be tested annually. These requirements will be indicated at the time of recruitment.

Additional Required Information

At time of interview applicant must provide: * Two (2) professional references (including work/supervisor-related) and three (3) character references (personal) with current contact information.

If selected and prior to hire, applicant will be asked to: * Submit to fingerprinting and criminal background check screening.

• Provide current evidence to be free from active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) with test results dated within the last 12 months prior to start date.
• Provide a copy of current CPR and First Aid certificate(s), if available.
