Job Responsibilities

With our Agency\'s mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located within the Division of Inpatient Services - C.M. Tucker Nursing Care Center. Address: 2200 Harden St., Columbia, SC 29203.

Supplemental location pay of 20% of base salary applies to C.M. Tucker Jr Nursing Care Center. Must meet direct-care qualifications.

In this position, you will work under general supervision, providing nursing supervision to professional nursing personnel in the administration of nursing practices to include planning, organizing, and distribution of work assignments to personnel in a designated area.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Makes rounds, observe, demonstrate and assess residents to ensure nursing care is administered in accordance to the residents\' needs, policies, and nursing standards.
• Documents direct resident care, medication and treatment, and assessments as needed, according to physicians\' orders.
• Provides input and assist in planning and implementing nursing care programs. Interprets and reviews policies, procedures, and guidelines with nursing staff.
• Participates as an active member of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Responsible for knowing OBRA, JCAHO, OSHA, and DHEC requirements. Evaluates and monitors environmental conditions and quality of life for residents.
• Assists with maintaining nursing staff records, evaluates and counsels staff under immediate supervision as well as, provides instructions and guidance to nursing staff.
• Makes recommendations to the Nurse Administrator I concerning educational needs, staffing patterns and environmental needs.
• Communicates pertinent information to other nursing staff.

This position will work an evening shift (3:00pm-11:30pm), and/or night shift (11:15pm-7:15am). Both shift schedules will include weekends and holidays.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience.

Agency Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience. Must be licensed by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
Note: If any Agency Requirements are listed above, applicants must also meet those requirements to be considered for the position.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor\'s degree in nursing; or a three (3) year diploma in nursing; or an associate degree in nursing and at least two (2) years of clinical nursing experience in either psychiatric, geriatric, or medical-surgical nursing, as appropriate to the employing facility. Must be licensed by the South Carolina State board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Additional Comments

The selected candidate must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; be able to stand, walk, reach, pull, push, stoop, bend, climb two to three flights of stairs, tolerate noise level, work with repetitive unusual resident behavior and circulate in residents\' areas for long periods.
