The Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (BMNTC) is seeking a motivated Nurse Supervisor to help lead our dynamic nursing team by providing clinical leadership and oversight in a residential facility serving individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD) and individuals with major neurocognitive disorders such as dementia.

The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for the coordination of quality resident care and the management of personnel within the assigned unit. This is achieved by ensuring that an adequate level of staffing is assigned to meet patient care needs and by monitoring staff performance through direct or indirect supervision. In order to ensure adequate coverage, the Nurse Supervisor may carry unit assignments and work flexible hours including weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of quality nursing care and support to residents
  • acting as a working supervisor, leading by example, with the care of residents
  • supervising and managing nursing staff on the unit
  • interviewing, selecting, and managing new nursing staff for the unit
  • serving as a member of the Senior Staff Committee
This position is designated \xe2\x80\x9cmandatory\xe2\x80\x9d and must report or stay over during adverse weather events and/or other emergencies.

Per G.S. 126-5 (c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of nursing experience.

ELIGIBILITY FOR SIGN-ON BONUS
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:

A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if: * the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
  • the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
  • or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
This Sign-on Bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.

There are no paid leave, retirement or other benefits associated with these appointment types.
