M Health Fairview is seeking a hardworking Nursing Assistant on the Long-Term Acute Care Hospital unit (LTACH) at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, MN! This position is 72 hours per two weeks, on the Day shift with an every other weekend rotation. About this Unit

Are you someone who enjoys building strong connections with their patients? This is an inpatient unit where all our patients have had a complicated illness or injury that requires hospital level care for an average of 25-30 days. Many of our patients are more acute than a typical Med/Surg floor, so this unit is an excellent place to build expertise in handling patients with progressive care issues at varying levels of multi system impairment.
Responsibilities

The Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse.

• Provides basic patient care by performing routine duties to include: Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making. Personal grooming, bathing, Toileting, feeding, Skin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams, Oral hygiene, Specimen collection/testing, Position/ambulating, Changing linens, Promptly answers call lights.
• Assists nurse in monitoring patient condition. Accurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation.
• Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients. Orients patient/family to environment. Assures the patient\xe2\x80\x99s belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and discharge.
• Transports patients, equipment, specimen and supplies. Assures patients get to appointment on time. Uses transfer belt when assisting patients with transfers and/or ambulation.
• Cleans sets up, and maintains rooms and equipment. Orders and stocks supplies.
• Correctly documents tasks performed on appropriate form.

Qualifications

Required:

License/Certification/Registration

• Successful completion of Fairview\xe2\x80\x99s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program.

Or

• Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)

Or

• Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program

Or

• Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position

NOTE: Individuals who have completed a Nursing Assistant program and are scheduled to take the NA Registry exam will be granted 90 days post hire to become active on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry.

• Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program
