  • Nursing Station Technicians- Support the work of the RN to provide exceptional care to our patients and families. The NST floats to all areas of the west bank adult units including medical/surgical, orthopedics, acute rehabilitation unit, transitional care unit, adult emergency department, ICU and the newborn family care center. The adult float pool NST also functions in the role of a \xe2\x80\x9cflyer\xe2\x80\x9d and responds to the needs of the hospital, assisting where necessary.
This position works 49 hours in a two week pay period on the evening (3:00PM-11:30PM shift, 8 hour shifts, every other weekend. This position is benefit eligible.
Responsibilities The Nursing Station Technician is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver direct patient care and administrative duties.In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit. Other job duties include:
  • Patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding
  • Maintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering tests
  • Setting up and maintaining patient rooms
  • Ordering and stocking of supplies
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications to Fulfill Job Responsibilities:RequiredLicense/Certification/Registration
  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program
AND ONE or more of the following:
  • Successful completion of Fairview\xe2\x80\x99s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program.
OR
  • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)
OR
  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
OR
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position
