This position is part of our Signal & Power Solutions segment; Connection Systems business unit located in Brookhaven, MS.
Summary (About this Position):
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Plant Nurse in Brookhaven, MS (relocation not offered). In this role, the successful candidate will administer professional nursing care to plant employees, manage cases and lead the plant wellness program.
Your Role (i.e. Key Job Responsibilities):
Provide nursing care for injuries & illnesses which includes responding to onsite medical emergencies, case management of occupational injuries and illness, and medical surveillance examination
Administer medications and perform various minor treatments or therapies for injured or ill employees, including lab draws and immunizations in accordance with Medical Directives
Lead and engage employees in site Wellness Program
Provide various preventative health evaluations and tests in accordance with Health & Wellness protocols
Manage Worker\xe2\x80\x99s Compensation cases in collaboration with site Safety Coordinator, HR Manager, and Third Party Administrator
Analyze and evaluate case situations (new hires, current employees with off-duty injuries, occupational injury/illness) to determine the appropriate fitness for duty
Facilitate the safe and expedient return of employees to work using sound clinical judgement and best practice guidelines to determine their fitness for service
Maintain accurate medical records associated with occupational health care in compliance with applicable OSHA regulations and company standards
Ensure timely and accurate entry of all information in the employee\xe2\x80\x99s medical file
Monitoring and tracking medical excuses, leave of absence (LOA) and reporting to HR and payroll the excused medical report-offs daily
Coordinate site drug and alcohol testing program
Support Family Medical Leave administration and management
Acquires knowledge of the occupational hazards and treatment for exposures throughout the plant
Partner with Human Resources, Safety, Occupational Health Nurses (other locations) and management partners to encourage an integrated team approach to solving problems
Support off-site and off-shift programs
Coordinate development of and maintain functional job descriptions
Assist with site ergonomic evaluations and recommendations in collaboration with EHS Coordinator, Engineers, and consultants as appropriate.
Maintains equipment and supplies
Interfaces with health services customers in a knowledgeable and professional manner
Ensure compliance with customer specific requirements
Your Required Background (i.e. Must Haves):
Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university
Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Mississippi
A minimum of 5 years of experience as a professional nurse is required
Your Preferred Background (i.e. Nice to Haves):
Previous experience working as a registered nurse in a manufacturing environment
Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN-S) experience or certification preferred.
Working knowledge of regulatory areas, i.e. ADA, OSHA, FMLA, Workers\' Compensation, STD/LTD is preferred.
Previous experience and in-depth understanding of Workers\xe2\x80\x99 Compensation, case, management, monitoring and tracking medical excuses, leave of absence (LOA) and reporting
Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Project, Excel, Outlook, Skype, Teams, Visio, etc.)
Strong results-orientation and execution characteristics
Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong ability to work with a team
Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple conflicting tasks, make intelligent, timely decisions and solve problems independently
