The Occupational Health Technician works closely with the medical provider, staff, medical receptionist, safety officers, supervisors, and leaders of local companies. This position requires direct employee and employer communication, critical thinking and problem solving. The Occhealth tech provides skilled testing and screening into ensure all employees receive accurate and consistent results as it pertains to the safety of their employment. The Occhealth tech exhibits initiative that contributes to a compatible, supportive and cohesive team. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: \xc2\xb7 Organizes exam rooms, including general cleaning, upkeep, and re-stocking of supplies \xc2\xb7 Prepares for medical procedures and understands sterile protocols \xc2\xb7 Perform point of care testing with proficiency \xc2\xb7 Performs venipuncture with proficiency \xc2\xb7 Administers and reads PPDs \xc2\xb7 Performs administrative tasks, including form completions, lab/imaging ordering \xc2\xb7 Scans all pertinent information into the electronic health record system \xc2\xb7 Demonstrates appropriate hand washing technique to ensure proper infection control and follows universal precautions \xc2\xb7 Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors \xc2\xb7 Demonstrates appropriate use of sharps and biohazardous materials \xc2\xb7 Answers phones, takes messages and troubleshoots company calls \xc2\xb7 Assists in the ordering, receiving, and stocking of medical supplies. \xc2\xb7 Other duties as assigned. \xc2\xb7 OccHealth techs at Odyssey Family Practice do not perform medication administration in the form of IM/SC injection, IV, or oral medications. \xc2\xb7 OccHealth techs at Odyssey Family Practice do not gain IV access OCCHEALTH SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: \xc2\xb7 Prepare for the day \xe2\x80\x93 prepare all necessary equipment for the day, including any necessary QCs, x-ray warm-up, PortaCount start-up, etc. \xc2\xb7 Check occhealth@odysseyfp.comemail daily and throughout the day to gather referrals, drug screen results, and respond to any company correspondence \xc2\xb7 Coordinate with reception to schedule appointments from the referrals received or schedule appointments on your own \xc2\xb7 Prepare all necessary paperwork for the exam one day in advance, provide these to medical reception to be given to the employee for check-in. \xc2\xb7 Once employee arrives, prepare the chart with the appropriate template(s), prepare the room with the necessary equipment for the exam (respirators, weights, lab requisitions and labels, phlebotomy, etc.) \xc2\xb7 Once check-in is complete, escort the patient from the lobby to the OccHealth room and conduct the exam with all necessary components \xc2\xb7 Complete paperwork in preparation for case presentation to provider. Conduct case presentation to provider to include type of pertinent physical and pertinent physical exam findings and history \xc2\xb7 Finalize all necessary paperwork before the employee leaves the office and provide copies of any applicable paperwork to the employee \xc2\xb7 Finalize all documentation of the exam in eCW and assign the exam to the appropriate provider \xc2\xb7 Send the appropriate documents back to the employer, MRO, or third-party handler (email or fax). This should be completed within 48 hours, by the end of the day is preferred. \xc2\xb7 The Occhealth tech will be cross trained and needs to be flexible and understand that they may be pulled to cover other teams when their schedule is light.
