About the Department:





The Sid and Reva Dewberry Department of Civil, Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering (CEIE) is a vibrant and fast-growing department that offers MS and PhD programs, in addition to an ABET-accredited BS degree. With special emphases in supporting the design, construction, maintenance, operation, and optimization of smart, sustainable and resilient civil engineered systems and livable communities, CEIE's total enrollment across all degrees has reached nearly 450 students and new research awards have experienced tremendous growth. The Department also has an enviable and strong relationship with industry, including over 40 companies and individuals working in partnership as the Civil Engineering Institute (https://civil.gmu.edu/connections/civil-engineering-institute), a unique organization formed to support the mission and vision of the department. About the Position:





Under the direction of the Department Chair and Department Office Manager, this position is responsible for the daily coordination and execution of administrative, event, and program support operations to ensure the service needs for both faculty and students are met.


Responsibilities:




Assist with department event management; Work closely with fiscal, parking, catering, and other support services to ensure scheduled events are supported; Assist with department marketing and communications; Screen and route phone inquiries, mail, and packages; Welcome and guide visitors appropriately; Maintain the appearance of the main office reception area; and Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:




High school diploma or equivalent; Relevant experience in an office/administrative position; Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and strong organizational abilities; Ability to effectively handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and anticipate and meet deadlines, while maintaining flexibility regarding changes in priorities; Ability to work with a team or independently as needed; and Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite software, including e-mail, online meeting applications, word processing, and spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications:




Bachelor's degree in a related field; Three years of relevant experience in office/administrative positions and/or events management; and Knowledge of university procedures, policies, and regulations.
