American Augers, located in West Salem, Ohio is a division of The Toro Company. American Augers builds the largest horizontal directional drills in the industry, and a full range of auger boring machines. With the rugged user in mind, American Augers rigs are built to last and backed by 24-hour worldwide support.
This person oversees the manufacturing operations of the West Salem Site including Metal Preparation, Fabrication, Welding, Painting and Assembly. This position effectively interfaces with other departments of the West Salem site to optimize the manufacturing operation. The position will oversee short term, tactical needs as well as identify, request, and recommend strategic direction for people, equipment and capacity needs to support long-term strategic growth.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
Production Process
Be the top-level driver, overseer and decision maker for all production processes to hit targets of all ranges (i.e., daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual operating goals).
Establish daily and weekly metrics to measure work center efficiencies and production throughput.
Reduce and control costs wherever possible while consistent with annual goals and objectives.
Quality
Ensure products are produced to meet West Salem site quality standards.
Create and maintain an environment of continuous improvement (of people, products, and processes) to help meet the increasing expectations and demands our customers have as it relates to costs, quality and delivery.
People
Sustain and improve morale and professional development of all production personnel.
Build and develop highly effective teams at all levels, with individuals that can be used to meet the site growth needs.
Have 6-8 direct reports comprised of production areas described earlier in the position summary
Effectively communicate with persons in all areas & levels of West Salem site and Ditch Witch Division
Safety
Constantly promote a safe working culture and environment.
Interact with Safety Team Committee to implement and monitor daily safety practices.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Engineering, Operations Management or other professional business-related degree or equivalent industrial working experience
5 years minimum in leadership/management and people development roles
Strong working knowledge of production and/or manufacturing processes
Demonstrated history of being a driver and compassionate leader
Ability to communicate and establish rapport with people and teams at all levels in the organization
Proficient in making decisions
Ability to lead day-to-day production needs and changes in mid & long-term product level needs for the distribution chain, including product and program changes, seasonal variations, and economic volatility.
Familiar with general construction of equipment sub-systems (hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, etc.).
Proficient in conflict management and resolution skills
Able to work with a diverse group of people, establish rapport, and effectively intervene and resolve issues as they arise.
Strong planning and organization with the ability to plan and manage multiple areas, processes, and projects.
Strong problem analysis and problem resolution skills.
Lean manufacturing experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Engineering, Business or another related field.
Other Industrial or Business/Professional Certifications.
