:Job SummaryThe ORTHO NURSE NAVIGATOR is responsible for maintaining and ensuring accurate and courteous communication within the unit and to other departments under the direction of the director or designee who utilizes the nursing process, nursing standards and physicians\xe2\x80\x99 orders to plan, provide and direct nursing practice; and to maintain unit records and supplies. Adheres to practice in accordance with the Ephraim McDowell Health nursing professional practice model. Performance that accomplishes patient and family centered care as central to practice and a foundation of caring, compassion, competence, communication, collaboration and teamwork. Accountable for leadership of self and others and functions as charge nurse and nurse navigator. Demonstrates a commitment to accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills. Serves as a liaison between other departments ensuring communication and accurate records are available. Responsible for staff scheduling and attendance for assigned units. Responsible for aggregating and collecting data for the ORTHO SPINE Disease specific programs. Adheres to practice in accordance with the Ephraim McDowell Health nursing professional practice model. Performance that accomplishes patient and family centered care as central to practice and a foundation of caring, compassion, competence, communication, collaboration and teamwork. Responsible for participating in shared nursing leadership to accomplish positive outcomes, education, respect, dignity, and safety. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:Works in a well-lighted, ventilated and air conditioned area. Long periods in a stationary position, moving around the unit, and positioning oneself to move heavy objects are required. Risks exposure to disease, infection and physical strain. Risks exposure to disease, infection and physical strain. Risks exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. Must be able to move 50 lbs. independently.CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:Patient, family members and significant others, physicians and Associates, other healthcare providers, community resource personnel, administrative staff and hospital support services.EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:Computer, copier, telephone, scanner, and fax skills required. Excel, Microsoft Office/Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher preferred. Proficient knowledge and application of data collection, analysis, and submission. Proficient in ADP Work Force Manager application.Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents:Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.Experience: Minimal four (4) years of clinical expertise required. Certification in specialty preferred; required within two (2) years.Licenses, Certifications, and/or RegistrationsCurrent license as an RN in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 3 months and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year.
