The Gaming Enforcement Division is a statewide team of prosecutors, investigators, and administrative and other staff, partnered with the Massachusetts State Police, and charged with investigating and prosecuting gaming-related crimes, pursuant to M.G.L. c. 12, \xc2\xa7 11M.Primary Duties: The Paralegal will provide day-to-day paralegal and administrative support to employees of the Gaming Enforcement Division (GED), as well as the Criminal Bureau. These duties will include the following responsibilities:\xc2\xb7 Research policy and legal matters pertinent to GED initiatives;\xc2\xb7 Draft administrative, grand jury, and trial subpoenas, as well as witness summons, discovery, and preservation orders, at the direction of prosecutors;\xc2\xb7 Track referrals, investigations, and prosecutions for GED;\xc2\xb7 Support grand jury work by preparing documents and analyzing returns to help develop investigations;\xc2\xb7 Support litigation matters by creating discovery, as well as scheduling business and law enforcement witnesses.\xc2\xb7 Analyze digital evidence in furtherance of investigations and prosecutions;\xc2\xb7 Assist in the coordination of trainings and assembly of training materials;\xc2\xb7 Organize and deposit seized monies, as well as track seizure and forfeiture processes;\xc2\xb7 Any additional duties necessary to effectuate the above responsibilities;\xc2\xb7 Administrative duties consistent with the needs of the Division;\xc2\xb7 Maintain Office databases, such as the Criminal Bureau\xe2\x80\x99s Usuary Database.The Paralegal will work closely with the prosecutors, victim witness advocates, and investigators assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Division, as well as with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners.All employees assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Division are subject to the Enhanced Code of Ethics adopted pursuant to M.G.L. c. 12, \xc2\xa7 11M(c).Position Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt. Must be self-motivated, disciplined, and possess the ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making. Attention to detail, effective verbal and written communication skills, and a high level of professionalism are necessary. A high level of proficiency with technology and computers is preferred. The Paralegal assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Division must demonstrate an interest in, and understanding of, the sensitive nature of working on investigations involving organized and public corruption crimes.
