Hidden in a forest between Cape Foulweather and Yaquina Head, Beverly Beach State Park\xe2\x80\x99s creekside campground is one of the state\xe2\x80\x99s largest. The park is central to excellent whale watching viewpoints, tidepools teeming with sea life, the Oregon Coast Aquarium, and shops and restaurants in Newport.

This position falls under the classification Park Ranger 2.

What you will do:
Perform, conduct and oversee a variety of tasks in order to protect, maintain, operate and repair state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment and systems by using skills in building trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and landscape maintenance, as well as specialized program skills (e.g.: resource interpretation, cultural and natural resource restoration, utility infrastructure operation, park rule enforcement, etc.) related to the maintenance and operations of OPRD programs, properties within the Beverly Beach Management Unit.

Minimum Qualifications:
Park Ranger 2: Four years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).

OR

A Bachelor\'s degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies 1 year of visitor services experience (e.g., rule enforcement; interpretation such as
education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).

OR

An Associate\'s degree in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management or Environmental Studies and 2.5 years of visitor services experience (e.g., rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).

Special Requirements:
To be hired, you must have a criminal records and driving records check that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment.

  • Skill in Campground operations including but not limited to camper registration, campsite closures, garbage and recycling programs, firewood program.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with diverse staff and user groups

  • The salary listed is at the non-PERS rate. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) eligible employees will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay the 6% employee contribution to PERS.
