Attention Parking & Security Attendants!If you are looking for a role where you can play an essential part in maintaining the safety and security for all City employee and designated public parking areas and facilities, this position may be for you. Under the general direction of the Parking Lots, Motor Pool Services & Security Supervisor, the duties and responsibilities of the Parking and Security Attendant include but are not limited to:

  • Enforces applicable ordinances, rules and regulations in government parking areas.
  • Conducts security watch, patrols and inspects all designated facilities under the jurisdiction of the Department of Facility Maintenance.
  • Performs as a special police officer commissioned by the Chief of Police to enforce all non-moving traffic regulations within City employee and designated public parking metered areas.
  • Responds to disturbances and maintains order in city offices, buildings and surrounding areas, and participates in motor pool activities.
  • Performs various general office duties such as answering phones, inputting data, creating spreadsheets, drafting and typing memos and incident reports, responding to emails, operating a computer with an emphasis on Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.

Valid registration as a Guard with the State of Hawaii Board of Private Detectives and Guards (i.e., possession of a valid State of Hawaii Guard license), at time of application.The State of Hawaii does not have reciprocity with any other state. You must possess a valid State of Hawaii Guard license at the time of application in order to qualify. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a special police commission prior to completion of probation. 2. 21 years of age or older;

To determine the selectee\'s employment suitability for this position, the Department of Human Resources will review criminal convictions, dismissals from employment, and separations from military service under other than honorable convictions.FINGERPRINTING REQUIREMENT:
This position will be assigned to service the Joint Traffic Management Center (JTMC). Any employee with unescorted access to secured areas and equipment within the JTMC requires a fingerprint-based criminal history record check. Therefore, the selectee will be required to be fingerprinted as part of their employment suitability review. The Department of Human Resources will review fingerprint-based state and national criminal history record information from the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
