NPA is a private general pathology group with an active outpatient and inpatient surgery service. The Pathologist assistant is responsible for grossing in a variety of surgical pathology specimens, ranging from simple to complex. Must use Dragon voice recognition and EPIC Beaker electronic medical record. As part of the pathology team, the PA works independently grossing all incoming specimens, performing frozen sections, interacting with surgeons, and prepping the surgery schedule for the pathologist the next day- including looking up and providing clinical histories. There is direct pathologist oversight and pathology support staff are readily available and assist in grossing. We evaluate on average 23,000 surgical specimens annually. Autopsies are limited to fetal autopsies only, and are performed only when time permits

Expected to work grossing in specimens from 9 to 5:30/6:00 depending on the specimen load. No weekend, evening or holiday work. Education requirement PA (ASCP) or exam eligible. Must be certified within one year of hiring date. BS degree in biological sciences and formal PA training program accepted as well. Prior experience preferred but eligible new graduates are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail oriented. possesses critical thinking skills, and is able to work in a team environment with effective communication skills.
