This position will identify and refer the patient and/or responsible party to an appropriate sponsoring agency. The position will be responsible for processing high-risk pre-certifications, developing and implementing denial avoidance plans, and producing reports on revenue cycle functions within the various departments to ensure appropriate financial error reports are worked and corrected. The patient representative is expected to demonstrate competency in the job elements of all the levels of the Access Coordinator positions.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare or related OR Associates Degree plus two (2) years of experience in customer service, call center, business office administration, registration, billing, or scheduling OR High School Diploma/GED plus four (4) years of experience in customer service, call center, business office administration, registration, billing, insurance, or scheduling.Excellent customer service, communication and telephone etiquette skillsKnowledge of basic medical terminology requiredComputer/basic keyboard skills, and general knowledge of office machines including printers and scannersPreferred Qualifications:CHAA certificationAdditional Information:Responsibilities:Conducts insurance verification and benefits explanation by running eligibility on patients for all outpatient and inpatient procedures.Performs authorizations and pre-certifications, tracks pre-authorizations, and maintains referrals.Enters benefit and authorization information input onto referrals.Counsels patients on any and all related financial information such as hospital discounts and reviewing Medicaid screening.Monitors patient balances using the matrix payment method.Provides pre-counseling for patients regarding the payment expectations for service.Responsible for the reconciliation of daily deposit and batch POS dollars, and completion of deposit agreement.Collects and posts payments and issues receipts and manages the change fund.Responsible for various maintenance reports such as bogies and registration denials.Performs other duties as assigned.Salary Information: Commensurate with education and experienceRequired Documents to Apply: List of three Professional References (name, email, business title), ResumeOptional Documents: License or Certificate (see special instructions for submission instructions), Proof of Veteran StatusSpecial Instructions to Applicants:Recruitment Contact Information:Please contact for any recruiting related questions.All application materials must be uploaded to the University of Arkansas System Career SitePlease do not send to listed recruitment contact.Pre-employment Screening Requirements: Criminal Background CheckThis position is subject to pre-employment screening (criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification).
