Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Petrologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geological sciences, with expertise in analyzing and interpreting rock samples. As a Petrologist, you will play a crucial role in conducting scientific research, utilizing advanced data analysis skills, and employing various software tools to support geological projects. Your work will contribute to our understanding of geological formations and assist in resource exploration.

Responsibilities

Conduct detailed analysis of rock samples to determine mineral composition and properties. Utilize software such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Petra for data visualization and interpretation. Perform geological mapping and create reports based on research findings. Collaborate with other scientists and engineers to build comprehensive geological models. Engage in fieldwork to collect samples and gather data for analysis. Apply mechanical knowledge to understand the physical properties of rocks and minerals. Stay updated on the latest research methodologies and technologies in petrology. Present findings to stakeholders through written reports and presentations.

Experience

A degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field is required; advanced degrees are preferred. Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS) for spatial analysis and mapping tasks. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python for data analysis is advantageous. Experience with scientific research methodologies related to petrology is essential. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex geological data effectively. Previous experience using Petra or similar software for geological modeling is a plus.
