Hours: Full Time, Rotating Shift. Start time varies from 6:00am-3:00pm, potential to cover for night shift when on PTO. Rotating weekends and (1-2) holidays/year.
About The Job:
The Pharmacy Technician prepares all medications, (unit dose and IV compounded products) for pharmacist check and ensures delivery to nursing unit for patient administration, refills pyxis units, prepares all floor stock requests, maintains the department\xe2\x80\x99s inventory in a clean and orderly condition, requisitions supplies, processes departmental paperwork, and triages phone calls. No prior experience is necessary. Extensive on the job training will be provided.

Certification and Registration
Required:
Registration: Registration with the State of Iowa as a pharmacy technician (or technician trainee if awaiting certification) upon hire and prior to starting position within the pharmacy.
AND
Pharmacy Technician Certification: National certification must be acquired and maintained from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), or the National Health career Association prior to the expiration date of a Pharmacy Technician in Training registration. (can be obtained at any point after starting work and prior to expiration date of technician trainee registration)
OR
Registration: Registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacist-Intern per Board of Pharmacy rules: "Pharmacist-intern" or "intern" means a person enrolled in a college of pharmacy or actively pursuing a pharmacy degree, or as otherwise provided by the board, who is registered with the board for the purpose of obtaining instruction in the practice of pharmacy from a preceptor pursuant to Iowa Code section 155A.6. "Pharmacist-intern" includes a graduate of an approved college of pharmacy, or a foreign graduate who has established educational equivalency pursuant to the requirements of rule 657-4.7(155A), who is registered with the board for the purpose of obtaining practical experience as a requirement for licensure as a pharmacist in Iowa. "Pharmacist-intern" may include an individual participating in a residency for fellowship program in Iowa, whether or not the individual is licensed as a pharmacist in another state.
Experience:
1. No previous experience required. Will provide extensive on the job training.
Special Skills and Competencies:
Tact, diplomacy, accuracy, dependability, and typing.
Be proficient in mathematical skills; and successfully complete competency exam with a minimum passing score of 85%.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical names and dosages.
Must have acceptable accuracy in performing tasks of verbal and written communication, keyboard operation and computer skills, as well as interpretation and use of numerical and graphic materials.
Must be organized and detail oriented.
Must follow all laws and regulations related to the practice of pharmacy.
Must be able to speak, write and/or read English.
