Overview: Assists the clinical pharmacists in providing an accurate and timely medication distribution system. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or GED required Registration: Must be registered with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician within 30 days of hire date, and registration must be in good standing \xe2\x80\x9cactive\xe2\x80\x9d. Certification: Employees must have national certification with PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) or ExCPT (Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians) upon hire.. Failure to successfully obtain national certification by the deadline will result in termination of employment. One exception exists, if the non-certified employee has been accepted for admission to a school of pharmacy (proof from the school is required), and will enroll in the next academic year, the employee may remain in the job code past his/her \xe2\x80\x9cneed to achieve PTCB certification deadline\xe2\x80\x9d and apply for a pharmacy intern position. If hired for a pharmacy intern position, the employee may stay in the job code until he/she receives an intern license. Employee must provide an intern license by the end of the first academic semester of pharmacy school or the employee will be terminated.
In the case of initial certification by examination, a paper result from the PTCB examination of \xe2\x80\x9cpass\xe2\x80\x9d will be considered active status for 30 days. In the case of PTCB renewal, \xe2\x80\x9cactive\xe2\x80\x9d status must be attained within 30 days of the expiration of the current certification (this provides a 30-day grace period for the employee).
Additional Skills/Abilities: Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Proficiency in basic math applications and analyses required.
