We want you, apply and work with us today!The position will provide a qualified person to assume day-to-day reponsibility for the coordinating, organizing and instructing/training candidates for the phlebotomy training program. The incumbent will work closely with the Phlebotomy Manager to coordinate and train new staff/students with their classwork and practicums. These tasks require the incumbent to use a high degree of technical judgment, have good decision making skills, and be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision. In addition to the listed duties, this person must be capable of performing the key responsibilities and performance standards as listed in the Phlebotomy Laboratory Inpatient and Outpatient position descriptions.Function/Duties of Position
  • Coordinate and organize the new phlebotomy training program. Develop training schedules.
  • Reviews staff/student work on a regular basis and provides feedback where needed for improvement. Keeps lab manager informed of problems.
  • Communicates changes to policies and procedures to students/staff, by email, memos or meetings.
  • Insures that safety regulations are met. Informs lab manager when safety regulations are not met or new safety issues arise.
  • Is pro-active in problem solving and planning for the future needs of the phlebotomy training program
  • Responsible for preparing staff/students for the National Phlebotomy Certification.
  • Assist Staff/Students in obtaining the National Phlebotomy Certificate
  • Assist in inventory, organization and ordering of supplies for the classroom training.
  • Attend meetings as scheduled
Procedure and Training Development
  • Prepares for classes by organizing and becoming familiar with training material
  • Prepares lesson plans and course material as required
  • Communicates with staff/student the training plans/schedule. Trains staff/ students to perform various phlebotomy procedures.
  • Evaluate staff/students for their academic performance, behavior and attendance. Proactively inform the phlebotomy manager of any staff/student attendance, academic or behavioral concerns.
  • Maintain staff/student records.
Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent and completion of phlebotomy training program, including significant time spent in a clinical laboratory rotation.Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT or PBT) certification.Medical Lab Technician or Medical Lab Scientist certification can serve in place of CPT or PBT certifications. * Four years or more of experience in Phlebotomy at clinical laboratory performing various phlebotomy procedures and techniques both in the inpatient and outpatient phlebotomy settings.
  • Demonstrated expereince with draws in various patient populations including elderly, pediatric, difficult draws and draw locations.
  • Previous 1-2 years of lead or supervisory experience in phlebotomy.
  • Phlebotomy Certification must be maintained, and depending on date of training, different continuing education requirements will apply.
  • General knowledge of laboratory terminology, phlebotomy equipment, materials and techniques, regulations and safety.
  • Skill in handling of laboratory specimens, record keeping.
  • Skill in using several different computer systems, including: Microsoft Word , Excel, Power Point, Teams, Epic etc.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately.
  • Ability to teach adult learners
  • Ability to work independently within established guidelines, to adjust to rapidly changing priorities, and apply problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
  • CPT, PBT, MLT or MLS

  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Medical Technology, or other science.

Additional DetailsSalary Range: $57,928.00 - $86,881.60 per year (Commensurate with qualifications, experience and internal equity)
  • Positions in the laboratory and environs may require working flexible schedules including nights weekends and holidays; working at multiple laboratory or hospital sites; traveling between laboratories and sites by stairs, elevator, tram, shuttle or other means; exposure to blood and body fluids, chemical hazards, radiation; working in a somewhat noisy and crowded environment; wearing gloves and other Personal Protective Equipment for long periods of time; experiencing occasional variations in temperature.
  • Sitting for up to four hours at a time, extensive computer use, ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
