The Specialty/Invasive Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
The Specialty/Invasive NP will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families.
Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care.
Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience.
Works in one of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, ICU, Interventional Radiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Surgery, Urgent Care, Urology.
Requires a bachelor\'s degree; completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program; and Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA). -OR- Must be a master\'s prepared Registered Nurse who has graduated and taken the board certification within their chosen specialty. Requires licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner; licensure as a Registered Nurse; and be eligible or have obtained a DEA number for prescriptive authority in Michigan. Requires certification in one of the following: ANA certification exam in a nursing specialty field; National Certification Corporation (NCC); National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Associates; and/or Certification from Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner (NP).
BCLS Certification required. ACLS Certification required in some departments as appropriate.
Requires good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as organizational skills, familiarity with computers, and excellent analytical and decision- making skills.
Ability to react to crisis situations quickly and effectively using department protocols and guidelines.
Emergency medicine experience preferred.
Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.
