Description: Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for experienced Physician Assistants to join our Surgical Services Team!
The Physician Assistant, under the responsibility and supervision of the surgeon, will be responsible for diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to allow the physicians to extend his service through the most effective use of this knowledge in the sphere of decision making required to establish a diagnosis and to plan therapy. He/she may assist in gathering the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of the surgeon.
Responsibilities include:
Perform and record history and physical examination
Write routine admission orders and arrange appropriate laboratory and x-ray studies and consultation with the supervisory/attending physician.
Confirm operating schedule, availability of blood and summarize appropriate data prior to surgery.
Write routine pre-operative orders as directed by the surgeon.
Complete informative discussion with patient and family regarding the planned procedure and hospital course.
Appropriate prep of patient in OR
Insertion of monitoring catheters, intravenous lines and Foley catheters
Transfer of patient to ICU
Completion of procedure note in patient\xe2\x80\x99s chart
Write postoperative orders.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in physical science degree from an accredited institution is required
Must be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program
Must complete courses of training for both basic and advanced cardiac life support
Must be certified or eligible for certification by the NCCPA (National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistant) and Delaware State Board of Medical Education and Licensure
