The Crownpoint Health Care Facility serves a population of 20,000 Navajo people. The staff consists of primary care physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, at a 20 bed hospital. FY20 showed a daily inpatient load of 4, outpatient visits was 129,239; annual OB visits at 717, and the annual emergency room cases number of about 14,643.
Physicians find they have ample opportunities to practice all the skills they trained for in residency, in multi-speciality, but non-departmental setting with continuous back up from colleagues and excellent nursing support in all areas of the hospital. There are no major surgeries performed on-site. However, based on training, our physicians perform a full spectrum of outpatient invasive and non-invasive procedures.
Crownpoint is located in Northwest New Mexico, on the Eastern edge of the Navajo Reservation, only a few hours drive North to the Southern Rockies, or East to Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Provide professional emergency medical services or direct patient care services as follow:
Make preliminary diagnosis, directs, prescribes or provides treatment, or arranges for specialized care of patient referral as required. Evaluates patients who come to the emergency room.
Provide patient care as needed and obtain consult as needed. Patients are often critical and may require immediate decision or are complicated because patient fail to respond to previously tried treatment regimens. Provides primary medical care to patients with wide spectrum of illnesses in the emergency room.
Provide emergency care on a regular and ongoing basis to patients seen in the emergency room. This includes stabilization and transfer of major trauma (penetrating wounds, hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, significant blunt trauma etc., obstetrical emergencies, orthopedic emergencies, intoxication and drug withdrawal must be competent in the management, stabilization and transfer of pediatric trauma, pediatric advanced life support, adult cardiac life support, advanced trauma life support, psychiatric emergencies such as suicide, and complex/ critical medical conditions (septic shock, cardiopulmonary shock, end stage renal disease, respiratory distress etc.)
May serve as a first responder for "Medical Emergencies," that is, ACLS/ PALS administration for patients found in life threatening situations for which the "Medical Emergency" activation system has been initiated on the CHCF campus, including the outpatient departments.
Make appropriate referrals and obtain appropriate consultations after primary complete evaluation and documentation has been completed.
Recognize and give initial treatment of acute psychiatric problems.
Provide consultation and assistance to the Fast Track providers, physician assistants or nurse practitioners, assisting them with patient care as needed. May also work in the Fast Track.
Provide appropriate documentation on rendered patient care utilizing CHCF\'s EHR system . The is responsible for utilizing the CHCF EHR system to obtain, dictate, electronically enter and assure preparation of appropriate medical records for all patients seen to assure the accumulation and organization of all pertinent clinical data needed to provide comprehensive medical care. Clinical data reports shall be completed in a timely manner and shall be maintained in compliance with Joint Commission standards. It is the
Responsibility of the to use the training resources provided by the CHCF to develop competency in utilizing the EHR system. The will complete documentation prior to the patient leaving the facility. Documentation in the medical record will meet or exceed the established standards of the IHS facility as regards accuracy, timeliness and content.
Acknowledge and review all imaging and laboratory values ordered document the evaluation and follow up of these values in the patient medical record. Will appropriately respond to notification of critical laboratory values even if the laboratory or imaging tests were not ordered by them.
Notify the medical staff of all deaths and shall document in the medical record al l in-facility and out -of-facility deaths if they are notified of these deaths by EMS.
Tour of Duty is 0800 to 2000, 1000 to 2200, or 2000 to 0800 Sunday through Saturday including Holidays, twelve (12) hours per shift. Overtime: May be subject to working longer hours in the rare instance patient load demands Requirements:
Training/Experience: The Contractor shall be a physician (MD or DO) with experience working in a high-acuity emergency department, unless otherwise approved by the Emergency Department Medical Director. There must be no lapse of clinical services of more than six (6) months prior to beginning tour of duty with CHCF.
Certification/License/Registration: The Contractor shall be board certified or board eligible with the American Board of Emergency Medicine. The contractor shall maintain appropriate licensure, a valid, current, full and unrestricted license to practice Emergency Medicine in any state within the United States, District of Columbia or the Common-Wealth of Puerto Rico, and certification throughout the term of the contract. * DEA: The Contractor shall maintain a valid, current, full and unrestricted DEA license with all schedule types (I through V) and maintain certification throughout the term of the contract.
