MCDOT\'s mission is to move people and connect places with seamless, equitable transportation options that are safe, environmentally responsible, and support economic growth and vibrancy in Montgomery County. MCDOT supports its residents, commuters and visitors with transit options and infrastructure that provide seamless transportation services to the public.

The coordinates transit services in Montgomery County. Transit accomplishes an essential mobility mission of the County, connecting people, communities, workplaces, educational institutions, recreational opportunities and many other essential destinations. The Division plans, schedules and manages the County\'s own Ride On bus system consisting of County owned and operated buses. The Ride On system is designed to complement the service provided by the other transit providers in the County and provides almost 20 million trips per year.

WHAT YOU\'LL BE DOING:

The Division of Transit Services, Operations and Planning is seeking a . This position analyzes all public transit requirements for the County. Plans, organizes, and supervises the collection of data on bus services; analyzes data and makes recommendations on adjustments to service to increase economic efficiency and satisfy passenger demands. Develops public transit operating plans, develops and implements bus routes, develops cost estimates for new service proposals, manages special projects and reviews development plans as they relate to the expansion transit services. This position is responsible for the coordination and support of related transit planning for County Ride On bus service beyond bus route planning to include site plan reviews, special event planning, serving as a liaison to, and coordinating with, other transit and planning agencies (WMATA, MDOT, Washington Metropolitan Council of Governments, local municipalities, etc.) and develops plans to implement new technologies related to the field of transportation and transportation operations.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Tracking, analyzing, and evaluating service performance and implementation. Reviewing route and ridership trends.
  • Internal and external communication related to service changes and implementation.
  • Interagency planning and coordination. Serving as a liaison to local transportation agencies.
  • Title VI evaluation and compliance for transit services.
WHO WE ARE SEEKING:

The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, exceptional computer skills and experience with Microsoft Teams and Office Suite. The candidate must be detail oriented, be able to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously and have the ability to work independently to perform a variety of difficult and complex actions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This position REQUIRES the possession of a valid driver\'s license from the applicant\'s state of residence to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office, including locations throughout Montgomery County and other places in the Washington Metropolitan region. These locations may not be accessible by public transportation.

This position requires the incumbent to work a flexible work schedule that may include working core work hours, as well as working flexible work hours (i.e. early morning, evening, and/or weekend work) to handle emergency situations, special events, inclement weather as well as the perform inspections, surveys, observations, etc.

To ensure a positive workplace and to comply with federal, state, and County laws, the incumbent is responsible for completing mandatory training within the first three to six months or within the specified timeframe.

The anticipated salary range in hiring for this position is: $67,206 - $87,287.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor\'s Degree in planning, urban design, environmental studies, public administration, or related field.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience in planning and research related to land use, urban economics, human services, environmental issues, conservation, or other work directly related to some municipalities planning and development work.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

License: Possession of a valid Class "C" (or equivalent) driver\'s license from the applicant\'s state of residence.
Preferred Criteria

There are NO Preferred Criteria Assessments. All Applicants will be reviewed by the Office of Human Resources (OHR) for minimum qualifications. Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated \xe2\x80\x9cQualified\xe2\x80\x9d, placed on the eligible list, and may be considered for an interview. Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following:
  • Experience with urban engineering.
  • Experience reviewing plans.
  • Previous experience in planning, urban designs, and related fields.
