RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

  • Must comply with all company, state and governmental environmental, health, and safety regulations, policies and procedures at all times.
  • Able to safely and effectively operate the hydrator, pulverizers, and related equipment to produce chemical grade hydrate. Able to run moisture tests each hour on hydrate and make adjustment to process based on the results.
  • Able to complete the daily shift report and downtime log involving operating time and environmental information for the hydrator and pulverizers. This information is to be turned in to the shift supervisor each day.
  • Able to measure feed and product bins and list quantity of material in bins on the report.
  • Able to load bulk tank trucks with proper material and proper quantity.
  • Able to recognize loading spout dust collector problems and initiate repairs if needed. Need to keep loading spouts in truck hatches for proper emissions control.
  • Know how to operate Merrick weigh belt scales controller.
  • Able to operate hot baghouse and propane heat system.
  • Able to operate forklift for removing rejects from KVS hydrator.
  • Able to inspect rail cars before loading to ensure there are no foreign materials in cars. Able to utilize horizontal lifelines for this purpose.
  • Able to safely drop lime cars down to the loading area. Able to load the correct type material and correct tonnage into the cars and trucks. Know safe operation of car puller.
  • Able to complete loading reports on cars and trucks via network computer.
  • Able to operate truck and rail scales. Able to maintain degree of housekeeping on the truck and rail scales.
  • Able to recognize loading spout dust collector problems and initiate repairs if needed. Need to keep loading spouts in truck hatches for proper emissions control.
  • Able to find metal and clear metal detector when activated. Able to check magnets on product belts and clean to assure quality product.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Understand and operate bill of lading system JWS
ATTRIBUTES:
  • Must be capable of working any shift, on-call, overtime, or seven days a week, if needed.
  • Must be able to multi-task with a strong sense of urgency to meet the customer needs.
  • Must be able to work well within a team environment and take instructions from management and co-workers.
  • Must be willing to be hands-on and not afraid to perform other work assigned to help the team be successful.
  • Excellent knowledge of material handling and mineral processing control systems with the ability to troubleshoot units/operation.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills. Must have a good understanding of the 5-Why activities.
  • Must have the ability to work independently in order to meet all required deadlines, with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and SAP are highly desired.
  • Strong record of attendance reliability.
  • Must know, understand and observe all department and plant safety rules and maintain a high level of housekeeping in assigned work areas.
  • Must be capable of performing the essential job duties required of this job.
Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:
  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
  • Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
  • Able to occasionally lift 20 pounds
Required Experience: 1-2 years heavy manufacturing and/or mining experience.

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED
