Our ideal candidate for the Portfolio Manager position is a seasoned professional with a strong background in managing high-value projects of increasing size and complexity. They are adept at using industry-standard project management tools such as MS Project, SmartSheets, Azure Dev. Ops, and are familiar with processes defined in the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK) or by Agile processes.

They are skilled at managing projects and initiatives, analyzing and reporting on portfolio performance, and initiating highly complex projects approved by Executive and Program Leadership.

Duties

Some of your duties may include:

  • Lead and facilitate all portfolio related activities. Identify meeting objectives and outcomes, track action items, assign appropriately, and monitor for completion.
  • Partner closely with technical and business owners to analyze new projects and readiness for governance decisions and provide transparency of portfolio work items.
  • Providing governance & oversight of projects to ensure project goals or objectives are accomplished within approved time frame, scope, and budget.
  • Coordinate the intake of new projects and provide risk assessment.
  • Organize and lead portfolio team in conducting research and analysis.
  • Set and maintain project schedules. Coordinate activities across multiple programs, departments, or functions.
  • Facilitate work breakdown into tasks and any needed decision-making regarding dependencies with technical solutions to be implemented.
  • Identify and resolve issues in a timely manner, monitor risks, and determine when to escalate to the appropriate project sponsor and/or project manager.
  • Foster a culture that guarantees collaborative working relationships and effective communication between project team members, which includes both technical and business resources.

Qualifications

Bachelor\'s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or closely related field and five (5) years\' experience managing high value IT projects of increasing size and complexity.

OR

A combination of education and/or relevant IT experience, totaling nine (9) years.

AND

Experience using industry standard project management tools, such as MS Project, SmartSheets, Azure Dev. Ops, and processes as defined in the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK) or by Agile certification organizations.

Experience using, business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.

*A Master\'s degree or above will substitute for one (1) year of required experience.

Desirable/Preferred Education, Experience or Certifications:
  • Project or Portfolio Management certification from PMI.
  • Green belt or equivalent in Lean.
  • Prosci (or equivalent) Change Management certification.
Additional Requirement of Employment:
  • Must be able to pass an Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claim & Benefit Information Review.
