JOB STATUS:40 Hours/Week, Full-Time, 12-month/year position
SALARY RANGE: $100,000-$150,000 DOE
REPORTS TO: Head of School
WORK LOCATION: Mercer Island, Bellevue, & Seattle, Washington

The Preschool division Head will work closely with their Lower School and Middle School counterparts. Four
Educational Leaders, a Dean of Teaching and Learning, and a Dean of Students work across the Divisions to assist
the Division Heads who work together regularly. The Preschool also benefits from a full-time School Counselor, a
Librarian, a Music Teacher, and a French Language Specialist. Additionally, a French Learning Specialist may observe
the preschool classrooms for early intervention starting in 1st grade. The Preschool Head will work with these
specialists on Student Success Teams.

Our curriculum is bilingual and harmonized.

The Preschool Head\'s main responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manages the relations with MLF and AEFE (surveys, training follow-up, organization of internships)
  • Ensures compliance with Washington State DCYF (Department of Children, Youth and Families).
  • Participates and leads school project initiative (La Grande Lessive, STEAM Fest, End of the year shows, Gala

Project, etc.)
  • Develops and manages teaching staff and student schedules.
  • Manages relations with the Stroum Jewish Community Center (SJCC) for PE and related activities.
  • Organizes cycle councils with educational leaders, Deans, and coordinators. Initiates relevant professional

growth opportunities.
  • Evaluates Preschool teachers and teaching assistants.
  • Supervises class projects (i.e., field trips, guest speakers)
  • Pedagogical activities: implementation of differentiation, organization of outside activities, cultural events,

professional development, project follow-up, and assistance to teachers.
  • Organization, participation, and follow-up of school outings
  • Student follow-up (PPRE, parent interviews, class councils)
  • Checking evaluation booklets
  • Creates and manages the budget for education, training, and school outings: pre-approval of orders, school

outings, vocational training, etc.
  • Checking orders
  • Pedagogical and logistical communication with various members of the educational team
  • Welcomes parents, students, and teachers.
  • Meets parents on request or proactively.
  • Presentations and participation in out-of-school events (admissions, information evenings, etc.)
  • Suggests improvements to current procedures and suggests new procedures.
  • Assists the head teacher.

EXPERIENCE, QUALITIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Excellent knowledge of the French Education Nationale curriculum
  • Experience as a school principal, educational consultant, or master trainer.
  • Ability to listen, adaptability, open-minded, consensual.
  • Initiative, creativity, and ability to deal with unpredictable situations while remaining calm.
  • Flexibility, team spirit, excellent communication skills in French and English (B2 level minimum)
  • Methodical, rigorous
  • Sense of humor, enthusiastic and motivating
  • Very good computer skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Occasionally lift to 20 pounds (nine kilograms).
  • Generally, work in standard office conditions and environment.
  • Work at desk and on a computer for an extended period.

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION:
Non-exempted position - Salary dependent on experience.

ABOUT THE FRENCH AMERICAN SCHOOL OF PUGET SOUND (FASPS):
FASPS is an independent day school located on Mercer Island, serving students 18 months of age through grade 8
with a bilingual program taught in both French and English. Founded in 1995 by a small group of educators and
Francophiles, FASPS opened with two teachers and 13 students. Today, FASPS welcomes 435 students on two
campuses. Our families come from around the world and represent more than 50 different nationalities and speak
