Position:Primary Care PhysicianDivision:Ponca Health ServicesDepartment:Clinical ServicesReports To:Clinical Director or Chief Medical OfficerLocation:OmahaExempt/Non-Exempt:ExemptSalary:Grade 23 ($176,727.76 to $257,597.93)Classification:Full-timeSummary:The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe does not have a reservation in the classic definition; rather, the Ponca Restoration Act defined its jurisdiction as a \'Service Delivery Area\' comprised of 15 counties throughout parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Within its Service Delivery Area, the Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational, and cultural services.Incumbent to provide comprehensive clinical medical care (educative, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative) at a primary level in an outpatient setting; diagnosing diseases, treating illnesses, disorders, and injuries of the human body; rehabilitation; preventive medicine relating to general medicine. Specific specialty sought to be determined by staffing needs and to be specified in the interview and job advertisement.Essential Responsibilities and Duties: * Follows standard medical procedures; interview and examine patients; review past medical history; requests and/or performs diagnostic tests and examinations as necessary; prescribes and administers medication; makes preliminary diagnosis; directs, prescribes or provides treatment, or arranges for specialized care or patient referral as required

  • Participates in quality assurance activities including record reviews of other providers as directed
  • Assists with establishing standards of care, review of procedure and process manuals.
  • Recommends clinical improvements in standards of care, medical referrals and support
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of Electronic Health Records.
  • Establishes partnerships at all levels and across department and functional lines to achieve optimum results.
  • Performs a wide range of tasks, respond to changes in direction and priorities and accept challenges, responsibilities and assignments.
  • Takes an action oriented approach and demonstrate a consistent focus on minimizing expenses while maximizing business results
  • Provides accurate, complete, timely, and legible documentation in medical records
  • Listens effectively, transmitting information accurately and understandably and actively seeks constructive feedback
  • Works closely with allied health professionals in the provision of broad health program services
  • Assists in coordinating conferences and staff meetings to keep clinical medical staff informed of new policies and program changes
  • Other duties as assigned
Relationships and Authority:This position has no direct reports.Working Environment and Physical Demands:The position is located within an outpatient medical clinical setting. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during work hours. Subject to emotionally upset patients, family members, personnel, and visitors.Qualifications: * Graduate of a School of Medicine accredited by the United States\'s Liaison Committee on Medical Education or have certification as an international medical graduate by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.
  • Successful completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination series
  • Hold an unrestricted medical license from any state/territory in the United States.
  • Board certified/eligible in one of the following specialties: family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, or combined internal medicine-pediatrics dual board certification.
  • Eligible for an unrestricted DEA registration to prescribe controlled substances.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access programs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid driver\'s license and be insurable.
  • Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, criminal, and medical practice background checks.
  • Able and willing to travel.
Preferred * One year experience in a patient-centered medical home or community health center context;
  • One year experience working with Native Americans or Native American organizations; and
  • Knowledge and understanding of Public Law 93-638: Indian Self-Determination Act and Indian Health Services.
